DALLAS SONGWRITERS MONTHLY MEETINGS

DSA MEETING MARCH 3Jack Kay is the inventor and President of Tx-Watt, a maker of a lightweight tube hybrid guitar amp that fits many styles of music. Jack will tell us how his amp can improve the sound of your guitars! This should be very informative so don't miss it!

ABOUT JACK KAY
Jack grew up on a dairy farm in Buda, Tx.

He attended Texas A&M studying Business - Computer Systems

He founded his own consulting company, KConsulting, in Austin which led him to Design, Build , Train, Manage and Support enterprise class , best of breed systems for clients, from 10-500 servers and 10 -50,000 users. Technologies include VMware, Microsoft, Unix, Linux, Cisco.

All the while Jack was also playing guitar and leading singing in bands around Austin and also touring. In fact I met Jack when girlfriend Debbie Beinhorn brought him to the MIDEM suite at the 4 Seasons in Austin during SXSW. They helped me get ready for one of the many suite parties I had while marketing for MIDEM.

Jack has a great voice and It’s very high. I was suggested by Debbie (a voice coach) that he be my demo singer for the Billy character of my Give Me A Break Musical. He set a standard so high that was hard for the actors who came later to live up to. I love the tracks he layed.

Jack is so creative that he designed and patented amplifiers that produce vintage analog tone, founding another company, Tx-Watt Amps which Jack is gonna tell you all about tonight.

Jack currently lives in Dripping Springs where I’ve spent a few heavenly days swimming and watching the deer wander his property.

Also, be sure to get your songs critiqued by industry pros Barbe McMillen and Joe Milton and considered for the 2022 Member Song Contest and Songwriter of the Year. Just email in your songs on mp3 with lyrics to Harry Hewlett at hhhewlett@gmail.com. Cost is $10 per song. You can pay online for critiques at:

This comes right on the heels of being named a 2018 New Folk Winner at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival. DSA MONTHLY MEETING FEB 4 2021 with guest speaker EMMELINE MILES

Emmeline Miles is a musician and candidate for Doctor of Liberal Studies at SMU's Simmons School of Education and Human Development. Because music engages the entire brain and reaches aspects of the human spirit that are beyond words, the creation of music is uniquely capable of facilitating post-traumatic healing. Emmeline is doing research that seeks to identify whether the act of creative writing—with or without music—can better prepare children for adverse experiences and provide them with the tools to process those experiences.
